Taste as you go
Season in small stages and make the final adjustment just before serving, when all the flavours have come together.
Discover the golden elixir of ghee, a clarified butter that's not only lactose-free but also boasts a high smoke point and rich, nutty flavor. Perfect for cooking, this homemade version is a staple for healthy and flavorful cuisine.
Step by step
Heat unsalted butter in a pan over low to medium heat.
Let it simmer for 10 minutes. It will start to foam at about 5 minutes, then most of the foam will be gone by 7 minutes, and almost all gone by the end.
The ghee is ready when the milk solids that settle on the base of the pan turn golden.
Strain through a mesh colander lined with a single sheet of cheesecloth.
Pour into a jar for storage. Keep in the pantry for up to 3 months (will have a peanut butter consistency depending on temperature) or in the fridge for 1 year (hardens like butter). ### **Macros per 1 tablespoon (approx. 14g)** •Calories: 120 kcal •Protein: 0g •Carbs: 0g •Fat: 13g
